Bell-Brown Medical Institute will accept outside credit or clock hours from other institutions for the Patient Care Technician Program only. The Phlebotomy Technician, Accelerated Phlebotomy Technician, and Electrocardiogram Technician Programs do not accept any outside transfer of credits from other institutions.
Bell-Brown Medical College will approve transfer credits from institutions that are officially approved to operate by their respective state’s department of higher education or official alternative jurisdiction. The following courses may be challenged or transferred from outside institutions to the Patient Care Technician Program pending approval from Chief Academic or Executive Officer:
Bell-Brown Medical Institute will accept outside credit or clock hours from other institutions for the Patient Care Technician program. Students may provide a copy of their current Certified Nursing Assistant license to be qualified to challenge the Fundamentals of Patient Care course. Experience as a CNA is not necessary to challenge the course. Students are required to attend the final three weeks of the course, beginning with “Week 6: Injections and Immunizations”, meet the standards of all performance requirements, and pass the final exam with a 70% or higher. Performance requirements are evaluated on a pass/fail system. The Fundamentals of Patient Care course consists of 64 contact hours. Upon approval, a maximum of 40 contact hours will be awarded for this course. The remaining 24 hours are to be completed by attending the final six classes of the course in order to complete performance and academic minimum proficiencies. The student will successfully complete this course after the remaining contact hours and minimum proficiencies are met.
Prior to beginning classes at Bell-Brown Medical Institute, all new students are encouraged to attend an orientation program. During orientation, students are oriented with the campus, staff, faculty, and peers. Program information, enrollment agreement, lab safety training, textbooks, supplies and school policies will be presented.
During the orientation meeting, students can sit for Blood Borne Pathogen Training Certification. Upon the successful completion of this training, students will receive certification of Blood-Borne Pathogen training with the American Red Cross. Textbooks, lab coats, parking tags, and supplies will be provided at the time of orientation. Tuition payment plans will be set up at this time for student’s wishing to pay on a weekly or bi-weekly basis after signing the enrollment agreement. If a student is unable to attend orientation, an appointment may be made with the Financial Aid Officer to complete the enrollment agreement, set up a payment plan (if needed), pick up supplies and textbooks, and review the school’s policies and procedures
Students that have successfully completed a phlebotomy program from another institution within the last 5 years may provide an official transcript or certificate of completion from a state approved institution. Upon approval, 48 credited hours will be awarded to the student.
Students that have successfully completed an electrocardiogram program from another institution within the last 5 years may provide an official transcript or certificate of completion from a state approved institution. Upon approval, 48 credited hours will be awarded to the student.
A maximum of 96 credited hours may be awarded to students who meet the above requirements.
